importance of sunscreen
Your skin is your body’s largest organ, and it’s important to protect it from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. UV rays can damage your skin in as little as 15 minutes, and that damage can lead to premature aging and skin cancer.
Sunscreen is the best way to protect your skin from UV rays. It works by absorbing, reflecting, or scattering sunlight before it reaches your skin. Look for a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher that provides broad-spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB rays. Be sure to apply sunscreen generously, and reapply every two hours or after swimming or sweating.
In addition to sunscreen, you can protect your skin by wearing protective clothing, such as long-sleeved shirts, pants, hats, and sunglasses. Seek shade when possible, and avoid tanning beds. Remember that you can still get sunburned on cloudy days, so don’t let the weather fool you into thinking you don’t need sunscreen.
